OUR VISION FOR
PELTON MOUNT CARMEL
The Pelton Mount Carmel site has been designed to activate its surrounding neighborhood. The projects’ transit-oriented design will provide economic and social integration into the surrounding communities.
RECONNECTING
The Pelton Mount Carmel site has been designed to activate its surrounding neighborhood. The projects’ transit-oriented design will provide economic and social integration into the surrounding communities. A public pedestrian walkway through the site helps to blur the boundaries between the public realm and the private residences.
The proposed 4 new residential buildings consist of 36 of the 41 residential units on site. There are (20) 2-bedrooms, (6) 1-bedroom and 10 studio units. Most units (95%) are designed to incorporate exterior balcony/terrace space to encourage residents to engage with the exterior elements as well as promoting a connection to the community. The apartment floor plans for both simplexes and duplexes have open layouts which extend front to back to capture the most daylight and views.
RESIDENTIAL
The exterior spaces around and between the buildings are designed and articulated to welcome the public and link the site programmatically to the neighborhood creating urban gathering areas for both residents and non-residents alike. Areas include a monumental staircase, viewshed, community room, and large terrace overlooking the Hudson River.
PUBLIC SPACE
The contemporary design of the façade offers unique and desirable residences amongst the existing historical fabric of the surrounding neighborhood. Sustainable features are taken into consideration with the design as well. Larger windows allow maximum daylight, combined with high efficiency windows and insulation create a comfortable living interior environment. The choices of exterior siding include sustainable materials with a long, maintenance free lifespan. Photovoltaic roof panels are in consideration for powering site lighting.
